The countdown is on for Amazon Prime members. At midnight, Amazon will launch its latest Prime members-only sale. Normally, the online retailer’s annual Prime Day comes in the middle of the summer. This year, though, Amazon is letting its members tap into some great deals in October — specifically, Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 11 and 12 — with its Prime Early Access Sale.
Compared to the more traditional Prime Day, though, this round of deals comes less than two months before Black Friday, when end-of-year holiday sales kick off in earnest. Considering the supply chains and shipping timelines that have seen delays in recent years, it might not be a bad idea to get an early jump on your holiday shopping.
With that in mind — whether your loved ones’ gift list is set or you’re planning to insist on a list between now and when this October sale is over — here are some things you should know about Amazon’s second shopping “holiday” of the year.
When is Amazon’s 2nd Prime Day sale?
Amazon will run its second Prime Day sale of the year from Oct. 11-12, beginning at 12 a.m. PDT on the 11th.
Who can shop Amazon’s fall Prime Day deals?
Like with the original summer Prime Day, this fall version of Amazon’s Prime Day discounts will only be available to those with an Amazon Prime membership. The normal price for a Prime membership is normally $139 annually, but there are other options if you don’t want to pay that chunk of change.
First, you can get a free Prime trial for 30 days if you haven’t been a Prime customer in the last 12 months.
If you want to have Prime through the shopping season, you can get three months at a discounted rate of $7.49 per month instead of the normal price of $14.99 per month. Prime monthly membership discounts are also available for students and those on certain types of government assistance.
This specific October Prime Day sale will only be available in Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the U.S.

What will be on sale on Amazon’s 2nd Prime Day?
Amazon has started giving its members a sneak peak of what will be on sale — and by how much — Tuesday and Wednesday, so we’re getting a sense of the deals out there.
Like we’ve seen with past Prime Day events, Amazon is putting a boatload of popular items on sale across many categories. This includes both its own products and others, too. During past Prime Day sales, there have been plenty of deals to help out travelers, including deals on Apple AirTags, which have become a bit of a travel necessity in 2022 if you’re checking luggage.
Looking at some of the deals that Amazon has already shared, we found HD Smart Fire TVs on sale for up to 44% off, including a 32-inch TV priced at $99.99, down from its normal price of $179.99.

Amazon’s Echo Show 5 bundles will be deeply discounted during the sales event as well. Normally $104.98 for a second-generation Echo Show 5 with an adjustable stand, during this sale you can get the smart speaker for $48.98, a 53% discount with the bundle.

Again, the deals are certainly not just limited to Amazon’s own products. Looking to brew a bit higher-end coffee? Save $200 on this Breville Barista Touch Espresso Machine that normally goes for $1,099.95

Amazon has also shared that there will be deals from Peloton and New Balance, along with the lowest prices of the year from brands such as Philips Sonicare. Overall, the e-commerce juggernaut has teased that there will be “hundreds of thousands of deals” in categories like electronics, fashion, Amazon devices, home and more. So there’s certainly any number of options if you’re looking to get a jump-start on your holiday shopping.
TPG will be scouring the list to find the best fall Prime Day sales that may help out travelers — just like we did for the summer Prime Day. (We’re looking at you, Apple AirTags.)
How to get the best deals during Amazon’s 2nd Prime Day
Once you find the item(s) you want, here are some tips to get the absolute best Amazon Prime Day deals possible.
Check to see if you are eligible for any deals that give you a percentage discount on your Amazon order if you use as little as 1 credit card point from programs such as American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards.
Pay with the credit card that provides the best return on Amazon purchases.
If you’re planning in advance, you can purchase Amazon gift cards at retailers where you earn bonus points on purchases via some of your rewards credit cards (like at office supply stores or grocery stores).
To be sure you’re getting a true deal, you can check the pricing history of that item on Amazon via a third-party site. For example, here’s the pricing history for a four-pack of AirTags, where you can see that the July Prime Day deals really were below the usual price.
Bottom line
Amazon’s launch of a second Prime Day event for 2022 is, for all intents and purposes, giving shoppers a chance to find early Black Friday 2022 deals. Whether you have some practical purchases you’ve been meaning to make, or you’re ready to get a head start on holiday shopping, the Prime Early Access Sale is a great opportunity to save this fall.
