TPG values Hyatt’s top-tier Globalist status at almost $5,000 per year when fully utilized. I’m not sure that’s the exact same number I’d put on it for my own family, but the value is absolutely in the multiple thousands of dollars per year range for us. The free hot breakfast, lounge access where applicable, suite upgrades, waived resort fees, waived parking fees on resort stays and more really add up.
After a multiple-year hiatus from having this valuable elite status, I was able to re-earn Globalist status in 2021 thanks to some pandemic-era reduced qualification criteria and fast-track opportunities.

But in 2022, Hyatt Globalist status has returned to its tough standard of 60 nights required to unlock the benefits. Not only that, but double elite nights promotions or similar have been scarce this year. I travel a lot and spend a fair amount on The World of Hyatt Credit Card to earn two bonus elite nights for every $5,000 charged to the card (in addition to the five tier qualifying nights from just having the card), but it’s late August and I’m currently only half-way to re-earning Globalist status.
Things were not looking good for me to make up lost ground and hit 60 nights this year until a new offer for the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card was released last week.
Here’s why I applied for this small-business card — and how it will hopefully help me re-qualify for Hyatt Globalist status.

Earning 60,000 bonus Hyatt points
There’s no doubt I’m excited about the prospect of earning 60,000 bonus World of Hyatt points after spending $5,000 in purchases on the Hyatt Business card in the first three months. Note that there is a $199 annual fee for this card.
From the Grand Hyatt Kauai and its fabulous pools to the ski-out Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, the handy-dandy, in-airport Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport and the Hyatt Regency Churchill, which I love staying at in London, there are Hyatt properties all over the world that I adore booking with points.

TPG values Hyatt points at 1.7 cents each, which puts a 60,000 point bonus at just over $1,000 in value. I’d say that my own personal return per point is probably much higher than that based on when and where I usually cash in Hyatt points.
Using the Hyatt Business card to earn Hyatt Globalist status
The bonus points are great, but that wasn’t really why I pulled the trigger on this card at this particular moment. What made now the time to act is the otherwise likely insurmountable gap I was facing to earn Globalist status once again. Needing to earn 31 more nights with just four more months left in the year was going to be somewhere between tough and impossible.
However, those who apply for and are approved for the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card by Oct. 6, 2022 can unlock double elite night credits for all stays completed between Aug. 23 and Dec. 31, 2022.

Assuming I was going to earn the rest of my stays with Hyatt nights in hotels, that would drop my requalification needs to get to 60 from 31 nights to just 16, which is much more doable with four months left on the calendar.
I should actually have an even easier road than that. Since you need to spend $5,000 on the card to earn the welcome bonus, I might as well go ahead and spend at least $10,000 on it by the end of the year to earn five qualifying elite nights.
I need 31 more nights — but I’ll likely earn at least two more for every $5,000 spent on my personal Hyatt card, which already has lots of expenses tied to it. That takes me down to 29 needed nights.
Then, if I spend $10,000 on the Hyatt Business Card by the end of the year, I’m down to needing just 24 nights.

With the double elite night promo now tied to this card through the end of the year, that means I need just 12 actual nights in a Hyatt hotel before the calendar flips to 2023 to hit the magic total of 60. This will unlock not only Globalist status but also the 60-night tier milestones that include an award night valid at a Category 1 to 7 hotel, along with two more suite upgrade awards and a dedicated My Hyatt Concierge agent.
I can get there even faster if I stay at Hyatt’s all-inclusive properties. That’s because Hyatt has a promotion from Sept. 15 to Dec. 20, 2022, where members can earn double nights on stays at Inclusive Collection properties. This can stack with the double nights earned for new applicants to the Hyatt Business card, meaning you would earn credit for three nights after each night you stay at one of these properties. Even award stays on points count for this triple credits opportunity, as first confirmed by Miles to Memories.

I already have seven nights actively booked at Hyatt properties for the rest of the year, so the odds that I can add at least five more nights to that total in the next four months are very, very high. It’s also possible I spend a second $5,000 on my personal Hyatt Visa by the end of the year, which would reduce the in-hotel nights needed a little further. Or maybe I’ll head down to Mexico for some all-inclusive stays.

Bottom line
With this one card, the path for the Hyatt Globalist status that I love and value went from pretty far out of reach to feeling very manageable — at least for one more year.
If you want to get in on this welcome bonus with the 60,000 bonus points and double elite night credit for Hyatt stays for the rest of 2022, be sure and apply by Oct. 6, 2022.
And remember, you don’t have to have a brick-and-mortar type of small business to potentially qualify for a small-business credit card.
