Last chance: Earn 60,000 bonus points and double elite nights with the World of Hyatt Business card

Elite status and World of Hyatt points have both become easier to earn, thanks to two updates to the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

There are many reasons why we love the World of Hyatt program. But the major caveat is that these points can be a bit harder to earn than its hotel counterparts, such as Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy, due to having fewer cobranded credit cards available in the program.

For a long time, Hyatt only had a consumer card (the World of Hyatt Credit Card), which offers terrific benefits for just $95 per year. However, we had hoped for a premium version or a business card to come down the line.

In October 2021, one of those two dreams became a reality with the launch of the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card — and with a lucrative welcome offer to boot. While the original offer of 75,000 bonus points has gone away, the card’s current offer is still quite good. Plus, the extension of additional bonus-earning categories and double tier-qualifying nights are adding solid value.

But we’re in the last days to take advantage of this limited-time offer. You must apply and be approved by Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. ET to receive the two Tier-Qualifying Night Credits for each night you stay through Dec. 31, 2022.

Current welcome offer for new applicants

New applicants of the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card will earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 in the first three months of account opening.

Plus, new cardholders who apply for and are approved for the card by Oct. 6, 2022 at 9 a.m. ET will receive two tier-qualifying night credits for each night they stay between Aug. 23 and Dec. 31, 2022. Thus, those who open the card during this period will earn nights toward status twice as fast.

These points can be used across the World of Hyatt portfolio, which includes brands like Park Hyatt and Andaz along with a few hundred Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties. You can also now use your points at nearly 60 all-inclusive properties.

Keep in mind there’s a $199 annual fee on the card, but there are many perks to help offset this cost — including up to $100 in Hyatt statement credits each cardmember year.

Extension of benefits for new and current cardholders

Those holding the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card automatically earn bonus points in their top spending categories each quarter.

Previously, the ability to earn bonus points in your top three spending categories was scheduled to end on Dec. 31, 2022. However, this has been extended through Dec. 31, 2023, after which cardholders will earn 2 points per dollar in their top two spending categories each quarter.

Who can apply for this card?

While this card is geared toward business owners — and it’s an especially good card if you frequently stay at Hyatt properties for business travel — non-traditional business owners may be eligible for the card as well.

With any business credit card, you don’t necessarily need a physical storefront or formal company to qualify. Whether you’re self-employed, freelance or are an Uber driver, you can qualify for a business card — including the World of Hyatt Business Card.

Additionally, if you already carry the personal World of Hyatt Credit Card, you’re eligible to apply for the business version as well. Just remember that this card falls under Chase’s 5/24 rule, which means that you likely won’t qualify if you’ve opened five or more credit cards (across all issuers) in the past 24 months.

Is the World of Hyatt Business Card worth it?

At the $199 price point, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card likely isn’t the right fit for all travelers. Here’s a quick rundown of the ongoing benefits you can expect from the card:

Earn an additional 4 points per dollar on Hyatt stays (on top of what you earn as a World of Hyatt member), 2 points per dollar on your top three eligible spend categories (through Dec. 31, 2023, then your top two categories), 2 points per dollar on gym memberships and 1 point per dollar on all other eligible purchases.
Up to $100 in annual Hyatt credits: Spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property and earn a $50 statement credit (available twice per card anniversary year).
A Hyatt Leverage membership, which is Hyatt’s global business travel program that offers discounts at participating Hyatt hotels to qualifying companies.
Spend your way toward World of Hyatt elite status: Earn five tier-qualifying night credits for each $10,000 spent on the card.
10% redemption bonus: Spend $50,000 in a calendar year and get 10% of your redeemed points back for the rest of the year (on up to 200,000 points redeemed).
Automatic World of Hyatt Discoverist elite status and the ability to gift this same status to up to five employees.
No additional cost to add employee cards.

Although Hyatt recently raised award rates at a number of popular properties, there are many still many sweet spots to extract maximum value from your points.

For instance, using the 60,000 bonus points from the current welcome offer on the Hyatt Business card could net a week at the Alila Ubud in Bali, Indonesia or two nights at the ultra-luxurious Hana-Maui Resort in Hawaii.

Bottom line

The World of Hyatt Business card is a great option for earning thousands of Hyatt points every year. Plus, at least for the first year, the World of Hyatt Business card is a compelling offering, as it offers applicants the chance to earn 60,000 bonus Hyatt points.

Through 2023, cardholders can earn bonus points in their top three spending categories each quarter, which adds a year to the number of categories where you earn bonus points.

However, the most valuable benefit for new applicants pursuing World of Hyatt elite status is likely the double tier-qualifying credits on stays from today through the end of the year. Be sure to get the card by Oct. 6, 2022 at 9 a.m. ET in order to take advantage of this limited-time offer.
